Description:
My extensive experience and proven leadership abilities led to my selection as the Medical Inspector-Instructor for a Marine Corps infantry battalion. I provide guidance and direction to sixty Navy and more than 800 Marine Corps reserve personnel in the execution of combat training and operations. I am accountable for the medical and dental readiness of the unit. Fiscal constraints of the military and especially the Marine Corps require me to be the best possible steward of resources. I am responsible for managing a $200,000 operating budget to equip and train personnel for forward combat operations. During the mobilization process I utilized locally procured supplies/personnel to perform medical readiness tasks normally accomplished via government contracting. I have efficiently utilized limited resources and personnel to ensure five companies within the battalion were 100 percent medically ready for the deployment to Afghanistan while conserving more than $30,000 in contractor fees. I am the resident expert in the use of our computer based medical readiness programs to monitor, improve and report medical readiness to Marine Corps leadership. I developed and implemented medical training for a 1,000 man infantry battalion to include combat wound management, CPR and BLS techniques, casualty evacuation/tracking, field sanitation, field mess operations, endemic diseases and chemoprophylaxis. As the subject matter expert in medical matters I consult and guide Marine Corps leadership through medical specific issues as well as deployment related concerns. I also function as a case manager ensuring the welfare and expeditious care of Marines and Sailors as the Wounded Warrior Program coordinator. I coordinate and conduct medical training for the battalion. I am personally involved with all in my charge and achieved 90 percent retention rate and 50 percent promotion rate despite arduous conditions and ever increasing operational tempos. I am described as an exemplary instructor delivering professional multifaceted training often in a challenging and austere environment.
