| Shift operator Responsibilities: 1. Monitors and records instrument readings of gas volumes, temperatures, flows and pressures to ensure safe operation and quality product, and reports deviations from standard so that corrective action can be taken. 2. Conducts maintenance checks of the equipment by physical inspection whilst on shift to verify operational status and takes appropriate corrective action as required. 3. Follow up loading activities including Preloading checks and connection and disconnection of Loading arms 4. Fills in log sheet and prepares shift report for areas of specific responsibility for submission to Field Lead Operator. 5. Installs, calibrates and tests minor controls/instruments in accordance with technical manuals to maintain continuous plant operation. 6. Inspects safety devices in area assigned, verifies their placement, test their operational status to establish their hazard/accident detection and warning capability to prevent fires and accidents. Report any hazards detected or incidents immediately. 7. Reviews fire fighting checklist at the commencement of shift to ensure familiarity with procedures to facilitate timely and accurate emergency response activity. 8. Prepare equipment for maintenance in accordance with standard operating procedures to minimize plant downtime. 9. Performs housekeeping tasks in areas of responsibility to eliminate safety hazards and maintain a clean working environment. 10. Trains in other areas of operation to provide flexibility and cover as operational activities dictate. 11. Follow up PTW activities within his area of responsibilities and ensure familiarity with the system. Qualifications: 1. Excellent command of English language and computer literate. 2. Technical qualification 3. Knowledge of petrochemical plant operation 4. Knowledge of DCS and SIS system operation 5. Knowledge of large scale rotating equipment particularly gas turbines and compressors. 6. Must be computer literate with an understanding of basic office applications. 7. Must have an understanding of PLC operation. 8. 3 years experience of operating plant in the petrochemical industry 9. Cryogenic plant experience is desirable 10. Well organized with safe work attitude. Must be safety conscious. 11. Must be capable of taking decisive action during plant upsets. 12. Must be able to identify potential operational problems and take corrective action to prevent escalation into an incident or loss of production. 13. Must be capable of frequent dealing with Site and contractor maintenance crews and construction staff seeking to carry out work within the operating facility. | |
